Come in! Entre! Bendigen!
On behalf of the residents, Town Council and myself - welcome to Hornepayne! It is my pleasure to greet you and share our Community with you.
Hornepayne is the geographical center of Ontario, nestled between the Trans Canada Highway and Highway 11 in the beautiful boreal forest, which we call the bush! We are surrounded by the living and natural beauty that the earth has provided. We enjoy fishing, hunting, bird watching and anything outdoors in a laid back and casual atmosphere.
Our community is supported by Canadian National Railway, Hornepayne Power Inc., Hornepayne Lumber Limited Partnership and Harte Gold Corporation and we are welcoming people to settle in for the long term as we offer good, solid careers and an amazing lifestyle.
Our community is a main stop on the Canadian, the cross-Canada VIA Passenger Train and we are now serviced by the Ontario Northland Bus Service to Hearst and Sault Ste. Marie with connections to beyond. We encapsulate what it means to be Canadian; we are kind, generous and happy to greet visitors!
We are the Home of the Three Bears. The Bears are embraced by our community as a proud symbol of our Town. The Bears stand proud within the R.W. Anderson Outdoor Recreational Facility which includes our children’s creative playground, ballfield, soccer field, and tennis court. The Three Bears, located along the highway that passes through town, are a perfect photo spot for your visit.
It has been my pleasure to introduce you to our Community. Enjoy our piece of the earth and we hope your experience is memorable as you discover the Centre of Ontario!
Kindest regards,
Cheryl Fort
Mayor of Hornepayne
