Commissioner of Oaths

The Township of Hornepayne’s Commissioner of Oaths is available to witness signatures. Affidavits that we can sign include:

  • Change of ownerships
  • Government related forms
  • Financial institution forms
  • Pension forms
  • Vehicle transfers

We do not:

  • Offer notary services
  • Prepare or edit affidavits
  • Provide interpreters for documents not in English
  • Provide legal advice

Fees

The fee during regular business hours is $51 (HST included) up to 30 minutes. Each additional 30 minutes is $51 (HST included).

Same day, after hours or emergencies up to 30 minutes is $153 (HST included). Each additional 30 minutes is $153 (HST included). 

Requirements and identification

The person or people swearing the affidavit must appear before the commissioner. Any person that is signing the document must be present and provide their government-issued identification that includes a photo and signature (i.e., a driver’s licence, provincial photo card or passport).

Notary Public

The Township of Hornepayne does not offer Notary Public services. You will have to contact a professional lawyer, notary public entitled to practice law in Ontario, or a justice of the peace to sign those documents.
