Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

What is a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan?

The Township of Hornepayne Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWB) 2024-2027 is a shared commitment from local government, police, and community partners across different sectors to work together to improve social conditions and enhance safety and well-being for all residents.

What is the aim of the plan?

The aim of the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan is to ensure that everyone in the community feels safe and a sense of belonging, has access to services, and can meet their needs for education, healthcare, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression.

Ontario municipalities are required by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to develop and adopt Community Safety and Well-Being Plans. Beyond the legislative requirements under the Safer Ontario Act (2018), our plan looks at tackling tough social issues from a different angle, addressing root causes through inter-sectoral collaboration.

Priority areas of our plan

The CSWB Plan was adopted by Council on January 10th, 2024, and has identified the following three (3) priority areas for action based on their research and community engagement:

  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse
  • Housing and Homelessness
  • Isolation and Access to Services
